How Much do Braces Cost?

At Wei Orthodontics, your local Canberra orthodontist, we understand that orthodontic treatment for you or your child represents a significant investment.

So how much does the treatment cost? That’s a hard question to answer as the average cost of treatment varies based on a number of factors and geographically across Australia. Not all orthodontic treatments are the same, and some issues might be more complex than others. Sometimes we may have to discuss a number of possible options with you in order to form an appropriate treatment plan specific to your needs.

The type of orthodontic appliance we use to move your teeth also plays a role in determining the cost. Treatment options can range from simple removable plastic plates to traditional metal braces, clear ceramic braces and clear aligners. The fees for these appliances isn't fixed, as it depends on the specifics of the treatment required.

A rough guide for the average costs in our office based in Canberra for treatment of both the upper and lower teeth are as follows:

  • $7,980 for orthodontic treatment which takes between 6-12 months

  • $9,780 for orthodontic treatment which takes between 12-18 months

  • $11,580 for orthodontic treatment which takes between 18-24 months

To get a better understanding of the cost, it's a good idea to have a chat with Dr Wei.

So what do the fees for orthodontic treatment cover? At Wei Orthodontics, our fees for your orthodontic treatment includes the fitting of your orthodontic appliances, as well as any adjustment appointments for the total duration of your treatment. Orthodontic treatment typically involves a number of adjustment appointments at 4-week, 6-week or 8-week intervals over the estimated treatment period. We also make you one set of upper and lower removable retainers and then monitor the stability of your treatment for up to 2 years after the completion of your treatment.

Orthodontic treatment is all about gradually shifting crooked teeth, and that takes time. While the cost for orthodontic treatment may seem high, it aligns with the intricacy and length of the treatment process. At Wei Orthodontics, we offer a number of flexible interest-free payment plans with a 20% initial deposit as just one of our ‘wei’s to make orthodontic treatment work with any budget.
